Green Musings / Babylonstoren

Babylonstoren is one of my favourite places. I could spend all day sipping their deliciously fresh ย juices and eating popsicles made from fresh fruits and herbs straight off the farm. I adore the many gardens, each with their own unique beauty. Its such a treat to have a good old stroll through this lovely, peaceful place. I have been to Babylonstoren before, but the novelty never wears off. ย It’s a visual feast and an all around sensory delight. If you’re in Cape Town, this is a place you need to visit…

Here are some snaps from my recent visit…

Sunday Sipping / Kahvรฉ Road

Last Sunday, I had a quick coffee date with my mum. We came across a exquisite coffee bar and patisserie, Kahvรฉ Road. As soon as you step inside, its easy to forget that you’re in the middle of a suburban mall. The leather upholstery, dramatic lighting, and moody interiors make for an incredible ambience. They have a selection of herbal teas, coffees and fresh juices, as well as delightful pastries, desserts and my personal favourite, macarons. What a lovely place…

Sunday Sipping / Crรจme de Levain

On Sunday, we were treated to a taste of Spring here in Cape Town, with the sun making an appearance and the iciness in the air taking a day off. My family decided to take advantage of this, and I found myself in the lovely little town of Stellenbosch. A Sunday isn’t a Sunday without a visit to a cute cafรฉ for a little treat, so we visited the charmingย Crรจme de Levain, a lovely little cafรฉ, bakery and creamery. The interior is simply gorgeous, and their waffles are incredible. If you’re in the Stellies area and need a place to refuel, make sure to check this little place out…

Durban Diaries / Day 4ย

Hello
After a lovely breakfast at the country estate we are staying at, we set out to explore the Midlands Meander. The weather was humid and there was a storm warning too!

There are a few really cute crafty stalls and shops all along the meander. Some of my favourites were the Junction and Piggly Wiggly. The Pizza Place make THEE BEST pizzas ever!

The Waffle Shack at The Junction. So dreamy!

We visited a few more stalls, then went to the incredible Nelson Mandela Capture Site. It’s so beautifully designed and an incredible work of art.

The incredible capture site!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these travel diaries! They’ve been a fun way for me to record my trip too! I’m flying back tomorrow! It’s been a wonderful holiday, but I do miss the Mother City.
Have a good holiday, SA people.

Durban Diaries / Day 3ย

Hello

We left Ballito today and ventured into the Midlands. The weather here was much hotter than in Ballito and it felt like pure summer. We stopped very briefly but mostly just pushed on to reach our accommodation before dark. It was a lovely, but tiring day. Can’t wait to share my adventures with you tomorrow!

Durban Diaries / Day 2ย

Hello

This morning, I woke up to sunny skies and gentle breezes along the beautiful Dolphin Coast. After 6am, it was already bright! After breakfast, I took a little stroll around the hotel and took a few planty photos.

We then went to the beach for a little bit before heading out to Durban itself.
We went to the Station Drive area that reminded me so much of Woodstock in Cape Town. We walked around in some of the stores, my favourite being the colourful and quirky Shoppe, then made our way to the Morning Trade market in The Plant and picked up some yummy treats. We crossed the road and went into the Warehouse next door. We picked up some juice from The Cold-Pressed Juice Co.

Cold-pressed juices from the Cold-Pressed Juice Co. So good!
Yummy macaroons we had at The Morning Trade

We ventured in Umhlanga and after some driving around, decided to go to uShaka Marine World. We dropped in there for a few hours, walked around, got a henna tattoo and had some lunch at the beautiful Moyo restaurant which is at the end of the pier. The view was gorgeous.
Virign Strawberry Daquiri. My fave …
The beautiful views of Durban from the pier!

Long, summery days mean happy hearts and sleep heads.

Durban Diaries / Day 1ย

Hello

I’m spending some time in the beautiful city of Durban and I decided to write about a few snippets of my days here. The weather is lovely and warm – such a pleasure after the on and off cold days we’ve been having in Cape Town. Naturally I think Cape Town is the most beautiful city ever (am I biased?!) but Durbs sure is pretty too!
We flew in this morning, and then drove to Ballito. We’re staying at a lovely little hotel that’s so serene and peaceful. It makes me want to grab a decor mag and just read outside all day. I think I’ll do just that!

We finished off our day by paying a visit to Willard’s Beach just before sunset.

Happy Heritage Day to my fellow South Africans too!
