Oudebosch Eco Cabins

A little while ago, my family and I went to stay in the beautiful Kogelberg Nature Reserve for a quick getaway. It was utter bliss. I had just returned from my Europe trip, and it was lovely to have a chance just to lie in the winter sun, and read a book, without the constant noise of the internet (there’s no cellphone reception) and city. The Oudebosch Eco Cabins are beautiful, wooden houses on the foot of the mountains in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. There are mountain bike and hiking trails all within the area too, which is lovely too. As a design student and a person who has a deep appreciation for aesthetics and innovation, I was taken aback by the incredible design of these sustainable, eco-friendly structures. They’re beautiful and functional and staying there was such a treat. Nothing quite like some peace and quiet, fresh air and time offline…

Green Musings / Babylonstoren

Babylonstoren is one of my favourite places. I could spend all day sipping their deliciously fresh Β juices and eating popsicles made from fresh fruits and herbs straight off the farm. I adore the many gardens, each with their own unique beauty. Its such a treat to have a good old stroll through this lovely, peaceful place. I have been to Babylonstoren before, but the novelty never wears off. Β It’s a visual feast and an all around sensory delight. If you’re in Cape Town, this is a place you need to visit…

Here are some snaps from my recent visit…

Durban Diaries / Day 2Β

Hello

This morning, I woke up to sunny skies and gentle breezes along the beautiful Dolphin Coast. After 6am, it was already bright! After breakfast, I took a little stroll around the hotel and took a few planty photos.

We then went to the beach for a little bit before heading out to Durban itself.
We went to the Station Drive area that reminded me so much of Woodstock in Cape Town. We walked around in some of the stores, my favourite being the colourful and quirky Shoppe, then made our way to the Morning Trade market in The Plant and picked up some yummy treats. We crossed the road and went into the Warehouse next door. We picked up some juice from The Cold-Pressed Juice Co.

Cold-pressed juices from the Cold-Pressed Juice Co. So good!
Yummy macaroons we had at The Morning Trade

We ventured in Umhlanga and after some driving around, decided to go to uShaka Marine World. We dropped in there for a few hours, walked around, got a henna tattoo and had some lunch at the beautiful Moyo restaurant which is at the end of the pier. The view was gorgeous.
Virign Strawberry Daquiri. My fave …
The beautiful views of Durban from the pier!

Long, summery days mean happy hearts and sleep heads.

Babylonstoren

Hello

I’ve been so looking forward to writing this post for a while now, and I’m so excited to be sharing it with you today!

A few days back, I visited the beautiful Babylonstoren estate with my family. It was such a lovely, hot day and it felt like summer! Babylonstoren is a Cape-Dutch style estate near Stellenbosch (again, in the Western Cape, South Africa). We spent the afternoon roaming the wonderful grounds that include gardens, restaurants, a hotel, a shop and a spa.

We sat down at the Greenhouse Restaurant that happens to have a huge greenhouse next to it (I wonder where it got its name from?!). The greenhouse itself is full of luscious greenery and my cousin and I had a ball snapping away at all the stunning plants. The restaurant makes the most divine scones and fresh juices, as well as desserts.

The other restaurant is called Babel, both of which are very popular and were almost full to capacity!

If you love nature, the different gardens will give you such pleasure. There are so many, such as the rock garden and the prickly pear garden (which I refer to as the cactus garden in the post) to name just a few.
